She/Her/Hers

Gabrielle is Anishinaabe from Ketegaunseebee (Garden River First Nation) and Quebecor from the south shore of Tio'tia:ke (Montréal). She is from the Ajijaak Doodem (Crane Clan) and has experience in Indigenous education at the elementary level. She is fluent in French and English.
Gabrielle is a certified elementary teacher in Ontario with her Bachelor of Education from the Waaban Indigenous Teacher Education program at York University. She also has completed her Master of Education within the Wüléelham - Urban Indigenous Education cohort. Her research explored how nbwaachewin (visiting) and healing with her elders in Ketegaunseebee can be helpful methods to come to know the true meaning of Shingwauk’s Vision, Anishinaabe education and the Dan Pine Healing Lodge.
Today, Gabrielle is a PhD student in education where she continues to learn about healing and Anishinaabe education through strengthening relational ties with her direct ancestors including Chief Shingwaukonse, and Dr. Dan Pine Sr., her grandparents Willard Pine and Marie Pine, her father John Pine, and her mother Nancy Ayotte. She works to be a part of relational processes to create positive change to contribute to a strong blood-line, to honour the past, and to create a better future based on the seven generations teaching.
